The Central African Republic (CAR) is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Chad, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo and Cameroon. Bangui is the capital of Central African Republic. The country is rich in mineral deposits including in particular gold and diamonds. However, it has been marred in political instability and social and sectarian strife.
The currency is the Central African Franc (XAF).
