Zambia's Minister of Finance has reportedly announced that the replacement of VAT with a new non-refundable sales tax has been delayed with a planned implementation date of 1 July 2019. The replacement of VAT was announced as part of the Budget for 2019, with the new sales tax to be implemented on 1 April 2019. However, the preparation of the required legislation has taken longer than anticipated and is now expected to be finalized and approved in parliament by June. Details of the new sales tax will be published once available.
