The U.S. Treasury Department has published the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) signed with Malaysia on 21 July 2021 for the implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The agreement entered into force on 3 October 2022, although Malaysia and the U.S. earlier reached an agreement in substance for FATCA, with Malaysia treated as having an IGA in effect from 30 June 2014.
