On 16 June 2022, the Netherlands published a notice in the Official Gazette on the termination of the 2005 savings tax agreement between the former Netherlands Antilles and Spain. The reason for the termination is the repeal of the EU Savings Directive, which was replaced by the amended provisions of the EU Administrative Assistance Directive. The termination is effective 1 January 2023.

Note the agreement was previously terminated in relation to the BES Islands and Curacao in particular with effect from 1 January 2018 and 1 January 2019, respectively.
