Romania has published Emergency Ordinance No. 59 of 24 June 2021 in the Official Gazette, which provides for the transposition of the new EU VAT rules for e-commerce effective from 1 July 2021. This includes provisions for the new One Stop Shop for suppliers to comply with the EU VAT obligations, including the union, non-union, and import schemes. The ordinance also includes provisions for the common EU sales threshold of EUR 10,000 for small-scale e-commerce sellers, above which VAT must be paid in the Member State where supplies are delivered, and other provisions for the new rules. For the purpose of the EUR 10,000 threshold, the RON equivalent is set at RON 46,337 by the ordinance.
