Qatar 2020 Tax Return Extension for Exempt Entities — Orbitax Tax News & Alerts

Qatar's General Tax Authority (GTA) issued Circular 2/2021 on 24 March 2021, providing an extension for the submission of tax returns for 2020 for entities owned by individuals resident in Qatar and GCC states, which are generally exempt from tax. This includes a 4-month extension from 30 April 2021 to 31 August 2021 for entities following the calendar year. Taxpayers following a non-calendar year are also eligible for the four-month extension provided that the non-calendar year has been approved by the GTA. The requirement to submit a return applies for all exempt entities, regardless of capital/turnover, although entities with capital below QAR 1 million and turnover below QAR 5 million may submit a simplified return.

Note - For taxable entities in general, a 2-month extension was provided by Circular 1/2021.
