Montenegro Abolishes Compulsory Health Insurance Contributions — Orbitax Tax News & Alerts

As part of recent reforms for 2022, Montenegro has abolished the health insurance contribution requirements under the Law on Contributions to Compulsory Social Security with effect from 1 January 2022. As a result, total employers and employees are no longer required to make contributions of 2.3% and 8.5% for health insurance, respectively. The standard contributions that remain include the contributions for pension and disability insurance and unemployment insurance, with standard rates of 5.5% and 0.5%, respectively, for employers, and standard rates of 15.0% and 0.5%, respectively, for employees.
