Ireland has published Statutory Instrument (S.I.) No. 321 of 2021, containing the European Union (Modifications of Statutory Instrument No. 110 of 2019) (Registration of Beneficial Ownership of Certain Financial Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2021, which were made on 1 July 2021. The regulations amend the European Union (Modifications of Statutory Instrument No. 110 of 2019) (Registration of Beneficial Ownership of Certain Financial Vehicles) Regulations 2020 (S.I. No. 233 of 2020), which provided rules on the establishment and maintenance of a central register for beneficial ownership information of certain financial vehicles, including Irish collective asset-management vehicles, credit unions, and unit trusts. The amendments include the insertion of additional provisions regarding the requirements for such financial vehicles to deliver (file) their beneficial ownership information, including that when a financial vehicle comes into existence, it must deliver its beneficial ownership information within 6 months from the date of its coming into existence.
