Guyana Introduces Additional Relief Measures for COVID-19 Including Return Extension — Orbitax Tax News & Alerts
The Guyana Revenue Authority has introduced additional relief due to COVID-19. The measures include:
a VAT exemption on water and electricity with effect from 1 April to 30 June 2020;
a VAT exemption on domestic air travel with effect from 8 April to 30 June 2020; and
an extension of the deadline for filing annual tax returns for 2019 from 30 April to 30 June 2020, although the deadline for the payment of the estimated remaining balance of taxes for 2019 was not extended.
The Revenue Authority is also expediting the processing of VAT refunds for businesses and PAYE refunds for employees.
