Greece has published Law 4753/2020 in the Official Gazette, which includes certain tax measures in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. One of the main measures is an extension of the 6% reduced VAT provided for products needed for protection from COVID-19 and to prevent its transmission, including:
This rate reduction was scheduled to expire on 31 December 2021 but will now apply until 30 April 2021.
Law 4753/2020 also provides an extension for the payment of VAT liabilities expiring in November 2020 until 30 April 2021, without interest or penalties. The extension is available for qualifying companies that have been financially impacted by COVID-19, according to the activity code number, and companies that have been required by the government to suspend operations. The extension is also available for companies established in regions with a certain COVID-19 risk level.
