Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the UAE has Entered into Force — Orbitax Tax News & Alerts

The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the United Arab Emirates entered into force on 1 May 2022. The agreement, signed 18 February 2022, is meant to:

  • Establish a clear, transparent, and predictable legal framework that supports further expansion of trade;
  • Encourage the transfer of technology, strengthen the countries' bilateral relationship, encourage the creation of new employment opportunities, raise living standards, and improve the general welfare of their populations; and
  • Support the growth and development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises by enhancing their ability to participate in, and benefit from the opportunities created by the agreement.

The agreement generally applies from the date of its entry into force.
