Botswana's Minister of Finance and Economic Development reportedly delivered his budget speech for 2020/21 to the National Assembly on 3 February 2020.
One of the main tax-related measures of the budget is the introduction of a new investment incentives package to be administered by the Special Economic Zone Authority. The incentives for qualifying investors will include a reduced corporate tax rate of 5% for 10 years, followed by a rate of 10%. The package will also include a 5-year exemption on property tax and an exemption from transfer duty on land and property, as well as streamlined investor facilities and fast-tracking of land allocation for investment.
