Bolivia has published Supreme Decree 4436, which regulates the new wealth tax approved in December 2020. The tax applies for individuals with assets valued at greater than BOB 30 million, including worldwide assets of resident individuals and assets in Bolivia of non-resident individuals, with progressive rates of 1.4%, 1.9%, and 2.4%. The Decree covers various issues for the tax, including the declaration and payment requirements. This includes that resident individuals are required to declare and pay the tax by the last business day of the month of March, while non-resident individuals are required to declare and pay the tax by the last business day of April. Where the tax is paid in Bolivia, it must be paid in national currency (BOB). When paid from outside Bolivia, the tax must be paid in US dollars.
