Argentina Extends Deadline to File and Pay 2021 Personal Assets Tax on Shares in Argentine Companies — Orbitax Tax News & Alerts

The Argentine tax authority (AFIP) has announced an extension of the deadline for companies to declare and pay personal assets tax on shares and equity holdings (participations) in Argentine companies for the 2021 fiscal period. The personal assets tax is imposed at a rate of 0.5% on the net-equity value of shares and equity holdings in Argentine companies. Resident individuals and non-resident individuals and entities are liable for the tax, although the Argentina company is responsible for determining and paying the tax due, with the right to reimbursement. The extension is provided by General Resolution 5203/2022 of 6 June 2022, which sets the deadlines to between 23 and 27 June 2022 for both declarations and payment, with the exact date depending on the taxpayer ID number.
