According to recent reports, Amazon has settled a tax dispute with the French authorities regarding Amazon's allocation of income between foreign jurisdictions in the years 2006 to 2010, and in particular, through its subsidiary in Luxembourg. The settlement includes back taxes, interest, and penalties. The total settlement, which has not been officially disclosed, reportedly amounts to as much as EUR 200 million.

In relation to the dispute, Amazon established a branch in France in 2015 through which French retail sales, charges, and profits are recognized in the country.
