24 June 2020
The Dominican Republic's Directorate General of Internal Revenue (DGII) has announced that due to the extension of the country's state of emergency for COVID-19, the deadlines for the presentation and payment of various tax obligations that were scheduled for 29 June are extended to 29 July 2020. This includes, among others, the filing of the corporate income tax return (IR-2) and individual income tax return (IR-1) for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2019. The ability to enter into an agreement for the payment of tax in four monthly installments is also still available.
The announcement also includes that a further exemption from monthly advance income tax (ISR) payments has been provided for the June period, which would normally be due on 15 July 2020. Notice 70-20 of 21 June 2020 provides further details on the extensions, including clarification that the exemption from advance tax does not apply for large taxpayers, although a request for a total or partial exemption may be made.
